STUART ALTMAN, Ph.D.
Stuart H. Altman is the Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy at Brandeis University. He has an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in Economics from UCLA and taught at Brown University and the Graduate School of Public Policy at University of California at Berkeley.

Dr. Altman is an economist whose research interests are primarily in the area of federal and state health policy. In 2006, Health Affairs listed him among the authors of the 25 Most-Read Health Affairs Papers and 25 Most-Read Health Affairs Papers Overall online. Modern Healthcare, Celebrating 30 years, listed Stuart Altman among the 30 people who have had the most influence on healthcare over the past 30 years; and, for the past six years, they named him among the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare. In June 2004, he was awarded the AcademyHealth Distinguished Investigator Award.

From 2000-2002 he was Co-Chair for the Legislative Health Care Task Force for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 1997, he was appointed by President Clinton to the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare. Dr. Altman was Dean of The Florence Heller Graduate School from 2005 until 2008; and 1977 until July 1993. And, from 1990-1991 he was interim President of Brandeis University. He served as the Chairman of the congressionally legislated Prospective Payment Assessment Commission for twelve years. ProPac was responsible for advising the U.S. Congress and the Administration on the functioning of the Medicare Diagnostic Related Group (DRG) Hospital Payment System and other system reforms.

Dr. Altman is a member of The Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences; a member of the Board of Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts; and, Co‑Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Schneider Institute for Health Policy at The Heller School for Social Policy & Management, Brandeis University. In addition, Dr. Altman has served on the Board of The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and on the Governing Council of The Institute of Medicine. He is Chair of The Council on Health Care Economics and Policy, a private non-partisan group whose mission is to analyze important economic aspects of the U.S. health care system and evaluate proposed changes in the system. He is also Chair of The Health Industry Forum which brings together diverse group leaders from across the health care field to develop solutions for critical problems facing the healthcare system.

Between 1971 and 1976, Dr. Altman was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation/Health at HEW. While serving in that position, he was one of the principal contributors to the development and advancement of the Administration's National Health Insurance proposal. From 1973 to 1974 he also served as the Deputy Director for Health of the President's Cost-of-Living Council where he was responsible for developing the Council's program on health care cost containment.

DAVID BERND
Mr. Bernd has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sentara Healthcare since 1994 and was named by the Secretary of Commerce to serve as a member of the Measuring Innovation in the 21st Century Economy Advisory Committee of the Department of Commerce. In 2004 he served as chairman of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees, the top elected official of the largest hospital and health system association in the United States. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Bernd was the 1984 recipient of the American College of Hospital Administrators' Robert S. Hudgens National Young Hospital Administrator of the Year Award.

Mr. Bernd is a passionate advocate for quality and patient safety improvement. Sentara Healthcare under Mr. Bernd’s leadership has become nationally recognized in the industry as innovators. In 2000, Sentara became the first in the nation to use an electronic ICU monitoring system which decreased ICU mortality rates, lengths of stay and costs, and increased nurse retention rates. Sentara’s work in changing the culture to achieve strides in patient safety and quality were recognized by the AHA Quest for Quality prize in 2004 and the 2005 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality award from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the National Quality Forum.

Mr. Bernd has devoted significant time to mentoring the next generation of healthcare executives lecturing at Stanford University, William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University. As frequent presenter for healthcare associations and national conferences, Mr. Bernd has focused on the strategic value of quality, patient safety and efficient delivery of care. Mr. Bernd has shared his knowledge and experiences with numerous hospital leadership teams, governing bodies and physician organizations.

Mr. Bernd received his Master of Hospital and Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in 1973. He resides with his family in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

JONATHAN BUSH
In 1997, Jonathan Bush co-founded athenahealth as a women's health practice management company. Today, athenahealth has emerged as the leading provider of on-demand business services to medical groups and operates the largest national physician network in the United States, helping to bring process integrity to the delivery and payment of medical care.

Jonathan and his company have been profiled in Fortune Magazine, Fast Company, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Red Herring and BusinessWeek as well as regularly appearing on national broadcast outlets like CNBC and Fox News.

Before athenahealth, Bush was an EMT for the City of New Orleans, a combat medic in the U.S. Army, and a managed care strategy consultant for Booz-Allen & Hamilton. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Wesleyan University and a master's degree with distinction in business administration from the Harvard Business School. He is currently a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, trustee of the Farm School, and father of five children.

WILLIAM A. MUGGIA
Will is President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer at Westfield Capital Management, which he joined in April of 1994. Will was promoted to President and Chief Investment Officer in 2001, overseeing all of Westfield's U.S. equity and hedge fund strategies. Since that time, Will and his team have successfully grown the firm from $2 billion to $12 billion in assets under management. Will became Chief Executive Officer in April of 2008.

Prior to joining Westfield in 1994, Will worked in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Alex Brown & Sons where his responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and spin-offs. Prior to that he was a Vice President at Kidder, Peabody & Company.

Will graduated from Middlebury College in 1983 and received an MBA from Harvard University in 1992.

Westfield Capital Management was founded in 1989 and is a SEC-registered investment advisor dedicated to providing quality investment management for institutions and wealthy individuals. Westfield supervises domestic growth equity portfolios with products across the capitalization spectrum, as well as hedge fund strategies, employing in-depth, fundamental research and analysis. As of June 30, 2009, the firm employs thirteen investment professionals and has $9 billion in assets under management.
